A Collection of Inspired Works by Five Local Artists:
Allison Horst - An avid plein air artists, Allison is inspired by early California impressionists Edgar Payne and William Lendt. She has recently studied with en plein air masters Kevin Macpherson and Kenn Backhaus. Allison is a member of the Santa Barbara Art Association and Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment (S.C.A.P.E.). In January 2008, she founded “Canines on Canvas”, an art project to benefit Santa Barbara’s Dog Adoption and Welfare Group (D.A.W.G). Allsion currently lives in Santa Barbara and her artwork has been displayed at various galleries throughout the area.
Ann Sanders - Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Ann graduated from UCSB with a PhD in Physics. She is a member of Santa Barbara’s Oak Group, and a talented pastel artist who has a passion for creating beautiful pastel landscapes exclusively on location.
Ann Shelton Beth – A Santa Barbara landscape artist for 18 years, Ann studied art ant both SBCC and UCSB graduating with an art minor from UCLA. Ann also studied with Louis Griffel, internationally renowned painter and instructor with the Cape Cod School of Art. She is a member of SB Studio Artists, SB Art Association, SCAPE and the Society for the advancement of Plein Air painting. Ann has had her art displayed at many venues throughout Santa Barbara.
Gerry Winant – A Graduate of UCSB and Stanford University, Gerry served in the U.S. Navy SEAL team during the Vietnam war. He enjoyed a career in biology and biochemistry working for a pharmaceutical firm and for the Santa Barbara County Environmental Health organization. He refers to his passion for painting as his “third career”. A member of the Santa Barbara Art Association, Goleta Valley Art Association and SCAPE, Gerry paints magnificent oil landscapes on location.
Jeremy Harper – Jeremy attended local schools in Santa Barbara and the San Francisco Art Institute graduating in 1994. He remained in San Francisco for two more years teaching art at the New Traditions elementary school. Jeremy spent summers in China and Europe studying art. His emphasis is large abstract work stemming from the figure.
In more recent years Jeremy has been putting all of his energy into the local landscape painting scene in Santa Barbara. He has been a part of many exciting art shows around Montecito and Santa Barbara county. Jeremy is a member of the Santa Barbara Art Association and The SCAPE art group. In April 09 Santa Barbara's illustrious OAK GROUP invited Jeremy to join as a permanent member.
